Check it out after the cover…
When Diana woke up on her 23rd birthday she thought it was going to be a normal day. She thought of donuts, coffee, and laughter. She did not think she was going to become the center in a galactic race to win her heart. None too pleased with the prospect of alien races descending on Earth to try and woo her, Diana does the only reasonable thing she can; she runs. Now she has to try and find a way to get rid of the blasted bracelet that is the cause of all the recent craziness in her life. The problem is this isn’t an ordinary bracelet; it contains the Heart of the Cosmos. Furthermore the Cosmos chose her for a reason and it isn’t keen on letting her go until she finishes what it started over ten years ago. Something tried to destroy it and now Diana isn’t just worried about her heart, she is worried about her life.
“No!” Diana yelled, desperately searching for an escape.
Her hand started to tingle. Looking down, she saw it was dematerializing! Diana opened her mouth to scream, but the next thing she knew, she was lying on a cold floor, the alley gone.
She pushed herself up and looked around. Elegant red tapestries swirled around her. Something about them seemed distinctly male. She glanced up at the high ceiling, which was decorated with a strange metal that looked somewhat—but not exactly—like gold.
She closed her eyes tightly before opening them again. “Not dreaming,” she confirmed, and tried to ignore the hysteria she heard in her own voice.
She stood and reaching into her pocket for her phone. No service. She cursed, telling it exactly how she felt. As she shoved it back into her pocket, the door to her left suddenly opened on its own. Diana took a few steps back, looking for somewhere to hide but bumped into a golden archway instead. A perfectly tanned man with long black hair entered. He was an entire foot taller than her and had the face of a god. Looking startled to see her, he closed the door securely behind him. He moved fluidly, like a man who knew how to seduce or kill.
“How did you get in here?” he demanded, his hand going to something on his hip.
“I don’t really know,” Diana answered uncomfortably. “I don’t even know where ‘here’ is.”
He strode towards her across the room. “How did you access our transporter?”
“I don’t know,” she responded, overcome by how handsome he was. “I did break into pieces. That was weird.”
He studied her face. “You’re of the species homo sapiens.”
She almost started to laugh. “That implies you’re not. Where am I?” She said stricken.
“Look out there,” he said, jerking his chin. “See for yourself.”
Diana watched him warily as she backed up to the place he pointed. She pushing back a curtain she saw Earth floating outside in all of its blue-and-green glory.
Describe your book in 3 words.
Alice in Space. (as in Alice in Wonderland)
Where did the inspiration for this book come from?
The original concept came from a dream (Chapter 4) and I just expended it out. I wanted to write a book for my long time supporter and friend, Caitlin. So I created this book for her. The main character, Diana, is partially modeled after her personality.
What was the hardest thing about writing this book?
Nailing Diana’s reaction to everything. She is a ‘go with the flow’ sort of girl but I couldn’t make her too laid back. Thank goodness for beta readers!
Who is your favorite character from this book and why?
I love Diana and Melanie but honestly Kal Zed, the talking cat/alien, has a personal place in my heart.
What can we expect next from you?
Diana’s adventure may turn into a second book eventually (I have ideas!), but for now it is stand alone. Right now I am working on my Dark Fantasy Series, ‘The Gate Trilogy.’ The first book, The Sixth Gate, comes out on July 7, 2017. I’m finishing up writing book 3 so I can guarantee it is just 3 books and is actually going to be published every other year over a 5 year period (always on July 7th).
