ARC REVIEW: Wrapped in Red (Martha’s Way Novella) by Mika Jolie

Wrapped in Red is a holiday-themed novella which continues Minka and Jason Montgomery’s story from The Scale.  It’s 12 days before Christmas; Minka has recently given birth to twins and her husband couldn’t be more in love with her. Minka should be having the best time of her life. Unfortunately, Minka isn’t feeling the Christmas spirit. New motherhood is filled with sleepless nights alone while Jason travels for work, and the insecurities that Minka thought she had left behind are popping up again.

Minka and Jason’s first story was somewhat heavy, so I went in expecting a light-hearted holiday read to catch up with the Martha’s Way characters we’ve met thus far.

Wrapped in Red is a poignant and touching story of the sometimes harsh realities of new parenthood, postpartum depression and making marriage work. Although Minka continues to not be my favorite character in this series, Jason is an absolutely perfect hero…

I wasn’t expecting the level of emotion that this story evoked. Wrapped in Red was well-written and the story is surprisingly complete in such a short page length. Another wonderful addition to the series.
