Stay With Me was my first foray into ménage romance way back when in my early days of reading erotic romance.
I’ve re-read this book too many times to count at this point as it still holds its spot as one of my favorite ménage love stories to date.
This is an established M/F/M ménage arrangement; Cat, Logan and Rhys have been together since college. One would think that with two husbands, a woman would never want for love and attention, right?? Not so true for Cat! After more than a decade together, Cat isn’t feeling the love anymore from her men. These three haven’t even done the horizontal mambo in MONTHS!
Being new to the subgenre at the time, I was surprised that Stay With Me was such an emotional read. I went in expecting mostly a sex fest, which these three characters do deliver. What I wasn’t quite so prepared for was how Ms. Banks makes you feel the struggle of these three characters throughout. I felt Cat’s pain when her husbands forgot their anniversary dinner; I shouted, “you go girl” when she’s fed up and leaves without a word. I got a little misty when each man tells Cat, “I love you…I’m not letting you go.” There is never a doubt that Logan and Rhys love Cat deeply, but they have spent years taking her for granted and she’s not been completely open about her unhappiness, so things have become dire. They all have some serious work to do to save their relationship.
Rarely, do we get to see what happens after the HEA in Romancelandia. Whether you’re in a conventional or unconventional relationship anyone can relate to this story because we can relate to the work that is involved to maintain the HEA through the highs and lows.
